You don't have enough RAM for Win XP. You should have at least 512 just to get your system to run properly. You might also have something else going on as well as not having enough RAM. I install windows systems in restaurants and bars all the time with Win 2000 or Win XP. Win 2000 will get away with running on 256 but not Win XP.
