Chris, Seriously now, it's true that OOo comes with some strange collection of languages. And as you may imagine, the more disctionaries and thesauruses the program loads when starting up, the longer it will take. You can desactivate word lists etc. for languages you do not use by modifying the dictionary list with a simple text editor.
<quote from previous thread> <...programs>\OpenOffice.org 2.1\share\dict\ooo\dictionary.lst 'dictionary.lst' is the 'List of All Dictionaries to be Loaded by OpenOffice' Looking inside: [...] DICT en US en_US HYPH en US hyph_en_US THES en US th_en_US_v2 #DICT et EE et_EE #HYPH et EE hyph_et_EE #DICT hu HU hu_HU #HYPH hu HU hyph_hu_HU DICT it IT it_IT HYPH it IT hyph_it_IT [...] You can deactivate installed spell checker, hyphenator, thesaurus for selected languages by setting '#' (as you can see above - e.g. usually I don't need Hungarian and Estonian spell checker and hyphenator; but if I would need them, I could remove '#'). You also could remove the whole entries as described in http://www.oooforum.org/forum/viewtopic.phtml?t=50862 </quote> HTH -- Guy using dutch OOo 2.3 m221 on a iMac Intel DualCore Tiger and brazilian OOo 2.3 RC 3 on a G4 PPC Powerbook Tiger -- please reply only to [email protected] -- Dodoes can't afford to have headaches --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED] For additional commands, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED]
