I am using version 2.3 of OpenOffice.org. My problem is : I just downloaded OpenOffice and started by trying to use the Writer application; however, the very first document (a business card template I have downloaded from Avery) is able to load to the application, but all the formatting is incorrect. The text boxes and graphics are all spaced incorrectly and if something relatively simple like this does not translate properly then I may have a hard time considering switching away from MS Word. I believe the document was called Bus_card_swirl.doc but am not 100% sure; I have had the template for a bit and may have renamed it, but I don't think so. Any assistance would be appreciated. I hope this information helps you. Leigh McBain says - Have a great day! [EMAIL PROTECTED]
It's not so simple. There are subtle and not so subtle differences in how OOo Writer and M$ Word specify the positions of frames, text boxes and pictures. Problem is compounded when you have frames within frames. That is the least compatible feature between them that I have found.
In other respects I am quite satisfied with their compatibility. Bruce Roorda Possum Hill Farm --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED] For additional commands, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED]
