Umm, a little more specific information would be helpful: OS (distro), OOo version for starters, and exactly what you tried that didn't work.

Checking the system logs on my Fedora 7 system[1], I see messages like this when I run any recent releases (2.2.x or 2.3.x) downloaded from OO.org:

Compatibility with SELinux in enforcing mode OOo 2.3.0 is incompatible
with SELinux in enforcing mode: OOo won't start unless SELinux is (or
gets) disabled.

A possible workaround is putting SELinux in permissive mode by issuing
(as root) the command

# setenforce 0

A binary patch is being prepared and will be announced a soon as possible.

yeh, but you don't need to disable SELinux. Joe Smith actually hit the nail on the head. It was just a matter of looking in the right log file to see what was actually transpiring. The log actually will point you in the right direction allowing you to fix the issue. In my case it was related to 1 specific file that needed to be fixed.
