MS2000 question/answer
I have, just this weekend, installed a copy of Win2000 pro
on an old IBM xSeries 205 server. It seems that once I download
the service packs (1-4) and run them, I get the updates OK.
I did not have an extra copy of XP, so I used an old copy of Win2000
I have left over from a previous upgrade.
Hopefully, MS will keep it up for a few more years.

They're still doing security updates. And if they do that till
2010, that's almost two and a half years more - for free to me.
You can switch to Linux free now.
Since you and I are not that far apart and I have to come that way often
to support customers I can drop a copy of PCLinuxOS off. It runs from
your CD-ROM drive so you can test drive it before actually installing it.
If you want the CD drop me a private e-mail with an address where I can
drop it.
I know I can get linux no charge and have had it but never got used to
using it. I appreciate your help but am not ready to reorient myself to
linux yet. Sometimes it's easier for me just to use what I know how to
use. Thanks a lot, though.
