Thanks, Dan, but I'm not trying to open OOo on every login. Rather, I like to open programs via ALT-F2 dialog box. So I'm creating scripts in ~/bin with names that are easy to type. Additionally, sometimes I need OOo running in a different language. I can write a script to change the locale before opening Writer, for instance.
