FYI: You are posting on a public mailing list.

That warning came from Microsoft. Microsoft would love for you to 
believe that there is a problem with the OpenOffice.org software 
because it is a competing product to MS Office. Microsoft wants you 
to think that anything that isn't Microsoft is a dangerous program 
that will do bad things to your computer. This is called FUD = 
Fear, Uncertainty and Doubt. Unfortunately you took the bate as 
Microsoft hopes anyone will do.

You can install the OpenOffice.org software and run it without 
concern. I install it on about 30 computers a week.
