     You are under no obligation whatsoever. I have been using 
OpenOffice.org since version 1.0.3. While I volunteer to answer emails 
like your, that is my choice. No one ever even approached me to do so.

    There is no cost involved unless you (1) pay someone to provide you 
with a CD containing the software or (2) you pay for your internet service 
by the hour. (It takes about 10 hours to download it if you have a dial-up 
service.)

     No, it will not. I still have version 1.1.4 running on this computer, 
and it is over a year old.

     Not having MS Office 2007, I can not contrast the two office suites 
very well. Others on this mailing list may be able to do so. However, I 
will say that OpenOffice.org uses an ISO document standard which can be 
read by many more people than Office 2007.

    I have yet to pay one cent to anyone for the privilege of using 
OpenOffice.org as my office suite.
