If your dial-up connection continually produces errors for large downloads you might try ordering the CDs from one of the sources listed at http://distribution.openoffice.org/cdrom/index.html#cdrom There is a small charge for the CDs but there could be several advantages for you. Your phone line won't be tied up for hours, you'll get more than comes in the standard download (clipart and templates are limited in the download to reduce its size).
