Are you sure that you didn't download MS Office?
I've done many installations of Open Office and have never needed a
product key. Since it's a free download, you won't have a cd key,
certificate of authenticity nor a purchase confirmation e-mail as
there will not be one.
Go to http://www.openoffice.org and download from there. It sounds
like you may have downloaded something different.

Hi
I have downloaded Open Office from the internet on to my laptop but everytime i
open one of the applicatiions I am asked to input a 25 character product key.
I have used the help tab to find out where i can find this number, but it only
suggests the CD case, certificate of Authenticity or confirmation email message
received from an online purchase - I have not got or done any of these!
Please can you email me a product key or tell me how i can find one?
Many thanks

Some of the vendors that sell downloads/support for Open Office use a
product key.
