Hi I am just wondering when version for MAC OS 10.5 Leopard will be released? The version for Tiger available at openoffice.org will run on Leopard, but keep in mind that there have been various issues with the new X11. It is being actively upgraded and you should install the most recent Xquartz patch so that OOo for X11 works at its best--see www.x.org/wiki/XDarwin and follow the directions. Even still, ongoing problems persist with the new X11, and subscribing to the relevant Apple mailing list will treat you to vigourous discussion on these. I am disgruntled enough by the present state of X11 that I chose instead to run OOo 2.3 in an Ubuntu virtual machine. Another alternative is NeoOffice, a very good Mac OS port of OOo 2.2 that runs under the Mac OS proper, not X11. Keep in mind that Neo is not an official OOo product, but I like it. Others here will tell you to stick with the original OOo under X11, and they are not wrong, they just have a different taste. Keep in mind that if you go with Neo this list doesn't officially support it, though there is an active support forum at http://trinity.neooffice.org. The Holy Grail of OOo for Mac OS X will be the so-called Aqua version--an alpha release is available and is fun to play with but is still too bugging for serious work. I for one really look forward to a decent beta of this one. The bottom line is that there are a few very good alternatives for the Leopard user who wants to use OOo or something based on it. hth, Les
