Greetings everyone, I can only speak for myself about this topic.
I consider "fools", "schmucks", and "stupidity" quite abusive and violent language. Not "profanity" in the narrow sense, but harmful and likely hurtful nonetheless. And I cannot see how use of such language advances our communication. We always have before us the option to take responsibility for our feelings and for our expression of them, just as surely as we have the option to choose open source software. Getting in touch with one's feelings BEFORE "venting" can lead to much more effective communication and also to a much stronger and more pleasant sense of connection among us all. After all, we are a rather small minority ... why not consciously choose to treat one another with simple respect and kindness, even when one of us doesn't "get it" or the like? I mean, have not we all not "gotten it" at one time or another? For anyone interested, may I offer www.cnvc.org (Center for Nonviolent Communication).
