Really? I suppose you've not looked at your rpm or deb installation
files lately :-)

openoffice.org-core01_2.3.0-5_i386.deb
contains vera bitstream fonts.
  as does:
openoffice.org-core01-2.3.0-9221.i586.rpm

I don't have a copy of 2.1 handy, but I think that 2.1 did include
additional ttf fonts - along the lines of arial, gara, shef etc.

Barbara, you might try looking around the mirror sites:
http://distribution.openoffice.org/mirrors/#mirrors
to see if you can find an older version.

If you already have/had 2.1 installed, you might check in the directory
(linux is .openoffice.org2/user/fonts and
/opt/openoffice.org2.3/share/fonts/truetype - I don't have windows
loaded just now so can't tell you that directory), can can indeed just
copy from one to the other.
