Well, your point, and that of many others seems to be that top posting
is contrary to common practice on the lists you participate in.
Further, you find it inconvenient or unclear and believe that others do,
too.
Forgive me for enjoying your posts, but you haven't said anything new on
the subject, nor have you advanced what I see as a compelling argument
for me to change my preference. You did restate the position of many
others in an entertaining fashion.
At no point have I tried to force you or others to follow my preference.
So, since my mind has not been changed, it's probably time to take Dave
Barton's advice:
"Come on Brewster, you are experienced and smart enough to know when you
have hooked a troll, so don't keep feeding it.
Never argue with an idiot, they will drag you down to their level and
beat you every time."
I have only one small quibble with that; I think it should be "Never
argue with an idiot, he will drag you down..."
Along with preferring top posting, I prefer not to use "they" with a
singular antecedent. I really hesitate to mention that, lest it trigger
a campaign to change my mind on that preference as well.
Of course, maybe someday there will be a grammar checker in OOo Writer
and the issue will be hashed out then.

I was not obfuscating. I was choosing whatever words seemed to
describe the position most accurately. I cannot take responsibility
for your failure to understand the point. I *can* observe that
I am unsurprised at that failure. Especially given that you "care not
a fig for" long-established Net consensus.
As I said, sub-optimal. If you know a better word, by all means supply
it.
