In Calc, I have a chart that plots two functions on the same graph. One is in the colour purple, and the other in orange. Next to the graph is legend that has the two colours, labeled "column B" and "column C". How do I change the text of the legend? Both random and calculated right clicks on the area have produced no configurable dialogs.

Easy way:
o Put the legends above the columns of data in the spreadsheet itself.
o Include the legends in the selected cells when creating the chart.
o In the second panel of the Chart Wizard, tick "First row as label" (as well, maybe, as "First column as label").

Hard way:
o Put the legends somewhere else.
o In the third panel of the Chart Wizard, select the "Data series" in turn.
o For each data series, select Name under "Data ranges", and point to the relevant legend.

To get back to these options after you have created the chart, double-click the chart (to get the grey border), single-click the legend (to get the eight green markers *around the legend*), and then use right-click | Data Ranges... .

I trust this helps.
