I downloaded the most recent version of Open Office and saved a file of
names and addresses. I then tried to open the file in Microsoft Excel
but it did not open. I thought Open Office was compatible with Excel,
Word, etc. Please help!

OpenOffice can save documents in Microsoft format but Microsoft Office
cannot read the ISO (International Standards Organisation) format used
by "native" OpenOffice documents. To make OpenOffice save in Microsoft
format choose File>Save As and then select the appropriate format from
the list of available file types. Make sure the little box labelled
"Automatic file name extension" is ticked (checked in American).
