As of this moment, in a Thunderbird window I've got a draft for the head of the Mathematics faculty at my university requesting that they stop sending mail as .doc files. Not only is it .doc, but all the links are through tinyurl! I've written to the student's association, the government's students management and others. Some have started sending pdfs. I have no problem with that, as they obviously will not give up their letterhead.
