It's a long time since I used Outlook but my memory is that one could
quite easily choose not to use Word as one's text editor.

The "2004" *might* mean it no longer works but ...
Don't know about Outlook 2007, but the previous version Outlook 2003
(which I still use for my business email requirements) - there is a
setting to use Word or not as the preferred editor.
