Hi,
Consistently since I downloaded Open Office 2.0 the spellchecker has not worked,
it just comes up with its <Spellcheck Completed> dialogue box superimposed on a
larger box which is effectively blank in terms of information given.
I am now up to Version 2.2.1 but it still doesn't work. Advice please.

The paragraph style assigns a particular language to the paragraph. A
dictionary also has a language assignment. The dictionary language must
match the style language for the dictionary to be able to spell check.
This arrangement is necessary in order for a single document to have
more than one language in use, such as in the case where a paragraph is
followed by a translation in a different language. This allows spell
checking in both languages.
Things to check, check the paragraph language style and see if the
dictionary has the same language assignment. If not, then you can
install new dictionaries of the language of your choice using FILE -
WIZZARDS - INSTALL NEW DICTIONARY. You need Java installed and enabled
for this to work. See TOOLS - OPTIONS - LANGUAGE SETTINGS and check to
see if what you have set up is logical.
