mailing list, if you do NOT:

   Bottom posting, that is answering _below_ the original text, is much
   more efficient for mailing list communication.

Reason #1 is because many simply discard HTML message out of security
reasons. #2 and #3 make much, much easier and quicker to others to
read your comments, which obviously increases your probability to get
an answer

Good advice, except for #3 (bottom posting). Some people prefer bottom posting because they personally find it more convenient and others prefer top posting because they find that more convenient.

Top posting is the common practice on some lists and bottom posting is common on others. There is no single universally accepted convention.
