I am using version 2.3 of OpenOffice.org. My problem is that when I

I cannot reproduce this problem.
One (remote?) possibility is that you may have multiple sheets
selected by mistake. The sheet tabs - with the sheet names - should
normally be grey except for the visible (selected) sheet, which has a
white tab. If you Shift-click or Ctrl-click other tabs, you can add
those sheets to the selection, so that their tabs, too, become white.
(This enables you to modify multiple sheets at once.) If you print
the selection (using either of the techniques you describe) with
multiple sheets selected, all of those sheets will be printed, of course.
To undo multiple selections, Ctrl-click tabs to remove sheets from the
selection. You cannot remove the visible sheet.
I trust this helps.
