But more importantly, the list shows all recently opened OO documents -- I
find this a real pain, and I'd prefer to have a list of only recently
opened Calc docs if I'm in Calc, and only recent Writer docs if I'm in
Writer. Is there any sort of workaround that will achieve this?

Have you thought of creating a shortcut for the Recent Documents List?
See Help for how to do this.

Thanks for the suggestion, but I can't find this in Help. A search for "Recent documents" said no hits, which I find very hard to understand! Do you mean a shortcut icon (presumably meaning I'd have to go back to the Desktop to invoke -- sounds cumbersome) or a keyboard shortcut (which would be better)? And could you please point me to whwere it is in Help?

Remember that OOo is an integrated suite rather than individual programs as in MS Office. Part of that integration, unfortunately for you, is a single
Recent Documents List.

That may be so, but as users, I suspect most will think Writer (in a document screen) and Calc (in a spreadsheet screen) are very different animals, and will not fully appreciate the "integrated suite" idea. I suggest that if one is in Calc and pulls up the Recent Documents lists, 9 times out of 10 it would be to look for another Calc document, and similarly with Writer. So the inclusion of the full list will be very unfriendly in 90% of cases. How does one put in a suggestion to change this, or find out whther it has been considered previously?
