Ubuntu only provide 2.3.0 with 7.10 - and I'm running the Sun 1.6.0_3 JRE.

OK, I've deleted the 2.3.0, downloaded 2.3.1 and installed it (with slight
hassles as my root partition isn't really big enough for OO. I had
created /usr/opt and linked it with 'ln -s /usr/opt /opt' but the
user-friendly un-install process must have deleted /opt.
Anyway - I now have 2.3.1 installed and working, but the problem
remains. Open a file, make trivial modification and click on save
and up pops the error box.
