This is/was a common problem in the Ubuntu versions of OOo which has
since been fixed (I think) in 7.10's (U)OOo 2.3.1. See:
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/openoffice.org/
for a full list of bugs & search on 'wizard'.

Make sure that you have (U)OOo fully updated to 2.3.1 and the Sun Java
JRE installed (search for Java or Sun) in System|Administration|Synaptic
Package Manager| and install sun-java6-jre. In (U)OOo, select
Tools|Options|OpenOffice.org|Java select "Use a Java runtime
environment" and then "Sun Microsystems, Inc. 1.6.0_3. Restart (U)OOo
and try again.

Ubuntu only provide 2.3.0 with 7.10 - and I'm running the Sun 1.6.0_3 JRE.

If that doesn't work, then you can always install the official OOo 2.3.1
version using these instructions:

http://www.8daysaweek.co.uk/forums/viewtopic.php?t=759

The only problem in installing the official OOo version is that you will
lose the ability to play various sound files in Impress unless you
install JMF (another thread altogether, but search the archives & you'll
find posts from me on how to do this).

OK, I've deleted the 2.3.0, downloaded 2.3.1 and installed it (with slight
hassles as my root partition isn't really big enough for OO. I had
created /usr/opt and linked it with 'ln -s /usr/opt /opt' but the
user-friendly un-install process must have deleted /opt. Anyway - I now have 2.3.1 installed and working, but the problem
remains. Open a file, make trivial modification and click on save
and up pops the error box.
