This is unfortunate, as you seem to have one of those problems that is
specific to your own unique machine or unique setup and so it is
unlikely that others will be able to help you with it. (I've had such
strange problems also in particularly machines, though not [yet] with
OpenOffice.org but once with Microsoft Office, though in that case I
blame the machine hardware.) You might try uninstalling OpenOffice.org,
rebooting your machine, and installing again. Also see if you get
similar problems with any other programs in respect to saving.

I tend to agree. Unless there is a consistent way of repeating the issue,
correcting it becomes very difficult.
