You can download an excellent suite of office programs called openoffice.org (OOo), but not Microsoft Office, from the openoffice.org website. OOo can read and write files in Word, Excel, and Powerpoint formats (except, currently, the ones for the new Office 2007 formats). OOo has a database program, like Microsoft Access, but it doesn't have full file compatibility there. It has a Draw program that is similar to Microsoft Publisher, but the file formats are completely different and can't be exchanged. OOo has a number of other capabilities, too.

The biggest difference is that OOo is free. You can legally use it on as many computers as you want, and even give it to your friends. So I'd say yes, you are at the right site!
