You don't say what Operating System you are using so I'll assume
Windows. OpenOffice doesn't have an uninstaller. You uninstall the
software via Windows Control Panel Add/Remove software. But you don't
need to uninstall a 2.x version in order to upgrade to a newer 2.y
version. Just install the 2.3 version and it will overwrite the 2.1
version. Of course your own documents and settings will *not* get lost
in the process.
Before installing 2.3, make sure OpenOffice is not running and also that
the OpenOffice Quickstarter is not running. If this is running there
will be an icon in your System Tray (near the clock) with two flying
birds pictured. Right click on this icon and choose Exit.
I don't understand why the Help should be missing. What happens when you
press the Help button? Installing 2.3 should fix this problem anyway.
If you still have problems come back here with details; and tell us
which version of which Operating System you are using. Also make sure to
tell us exactly what error message(s) you get, if any.
