Hi Michael,
There are two ways to deal with your problem:
1) Encourage your recipients to install OpenOffice.
2) Save your files in Microsoft Office format. Use 'file / save as', and select
'Microsoft Word 97/2000/XP (.doc)' in the pick list title 'save as type'. If you
used advanced formatting in your files, some may be lost. If the recipients
don't need to edit your files, export them as PDF and send that instead. Maybe
send both.

I have installed Openoffice, but most people have Word and therefore cannot
open the documents I send them, eg attached to emails. How can I advise
receivers to open my Openoffice documents?
Otherwise I must pay for Word, which I would obviously rather not do.
Many thanks,
Michael Garratt.
