Yes, you can. OpenOffice.org will export text documents to the PDF format. http://download.openoffice.org/2.3.1/index.html. Click the box labeled "Download OpenOffice.org. That box opens up to reveal several choices. If you are using Microsoft Windows on you computer, Click the Windows link. Follow the instructions to download the program. It should place an icon on your desktop. Double click this icon to start the installation. It will place another icon on your desktop before beginning the actual installation process. When the installation if finished, look in the Start menu under All Programs. At the bottom of that list should be a folder labeled OpenOffice.org. Inside that folder are all the shortcuts to the applications of OpenOffice.org. For writing Documents, you would want the Writer icon (text documents).
