Not so with Writer tables. Pls, try :-)

Beyond number formats, I don't see anything that might be comparable to
a spreadsheet function.  Care to enlighten us?  For example, he
mentioned an auto incrementing cell.  That's easy to do in a
spreadsheet.  How do you do it in Writer?

No auto incrementing. I responded to your "Formulas etc."
Just hit F2 of use the Sigma icon on the toolbar.
