About us: My husband is a retired Dept. of Defense senior executive charged with negotiations with industry for submarine warfare missils.Received many awards as well as the coveted Distinguished Service Award from the US Department of Defense. I, Alan's wife, am the retired Agency Advocate for Competition from the US. Department of Justice. I was forced to retire on disability in 1993. Alan retired in 1999 from the Dept of Defense, then served as President of a large civic associaiton in Alexandria fighting the move of the US Patent and Trademark Office to Alexandira, followed by Co-Chair of ahe Citywide task force to negotiate a large grant with the Patent & Trademark Office developer for beautification of a major area of open space for residents. In 2001, Alan was employed to serve as a consultant in negotiation of security contracts for the Department of State at its overseas embassies. He traveled to many third world as well as developed countries in this capacity. After three years, Alan retired again. Pat Rudd
