It's being worked on from the OOo side, see:

You should contact EndNote and request that they work on it from their
side. I've looked at a few of their Word templates
(http://www.endnote.com/support/entemplates.asp) and the macros they use
appear to be very simple, so I think that converting the macros to
StarBasic should not be that hard for them. Apparently they are quite
aware of OpenOffice & StarOffice:
