It looks like he's trying to open the file directly in OpenOffice.  pdfs
are designed to be opened in a PDF reader, either Adobe's or an
alternative reader (KPDF, for instnace).  Normally, pdfs aren't supposed
to be an "editable" format (though they do have forms inside sometime).
