Hello Jeanne,

• Please reply _only_ to the list, so you have more chances to get an answer.
• Also make a new message to the list when you have another question,
and summarize your question in a few words in the subject line. in
this way you also improve your chances to get an answer.

This question is not about OpenOffice.org and you could ask it online
at www.hp.com
What happens if you connect your printer to your Mac and get them both
running, then open the System Prefs > Print&Fax > Print and click on
the + to add a new printer? Does your Mac recognize the HP printer or
not?
On the site, HP boasts that Leopard recognizes 200+ HP printers, but
it's true that your LJ 1018 isn't mentioned.

If it doesn't work to add your printer, I'd ask HP why this model is
left out (too old?).

(I have bad experiences with HP, but that was about a defective
'vertical' photo scanner. They lost some parts of it and were unable
to replace them. So no more HP for me, but that's besides the
question)

Good luck!
