Clarification :- Word 2007 runs on Windows XP as well as Vista. Vista is an operating system, which allows programs to run. > When trying to, i get asked to select a > filter, but windows vista does'nt show up as an option. Clarification :- Vista will never be an option, you cannot open a vista document because they don't exist. Word 2007 documents exist > I noticed that the vista documents... To explain; Microsoft are trying to make this filetype an international ISO standard. To date this has not gone well, many modifications are required to the filetype before the standard can be achieved (if at all). Consequently the "current" .docx will be modified in the near future: http://www.sutor.com/newsite/blog-open/?p=2031 NOTE: although in the replies to this blog Microsoft employees dispute certain facts, the disputes are mainly about semantics and not one employee disputes the whole issue presented. We recommend saving in .doc format from Word 2007 until this issue has been settled. .doc format is readable and writable from OpenOffice.org. Having said that filters do exist for .docx format in OO.o and for ODF formats in Microsoft Office. Both tend to be substandard at this point in time. Using .doc format alleviates any pain this issue raises. -- Michael All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well - Julian of Norwich 1342 - 1416 --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED] For additional commands, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED]
