I have OpenOffice1.1 installed by disc. Will it be ok to download OpenOffice 2.3.1? I do not want to lose existing files created on version 1.1. or created any conflicts.
You can install v2.x without affecting your current files. You can have both versions of OpenOffice on your computer, if you wish. You will be able to work on your files in either version. Incidentally, if you wish to retain a 1.x version, you may want to go with v1.1.5, which can be found here: http://download.openoffice.org/1.1.5/index.html. This is the last of the 1.x versions and can read, but not write the new ODF files, which are the default in OO v2.x. You can also delete v1.1, if you wish.
