I've recommended Open Office to a friend (board chairwoman) who has a Mac

are Macs just too different?

Thanks.

OOo on the Mac has a PDF export function just as the versions for the other operating systems.

On a Mac you can save any file as a .pdf file. If she is using iWorks File/export will work. For any program select print then in the print dialogue select save as .pdf. No need for her to learn a new program.
