If it's taking hours to download, I assume you're using a dial up modem.
With dial up modems, your connection can easily be lost, aborting the
download. This could be caused by someone picking up an extension on
your phone line or possibly your ISP disconnecting you, because you have
been connected so long. If you cannot download where you are, you could
always go somewhere with a high speed connection and copy the downloaded
file to a CD or USB flash drive. Failing that, there is a list of CD
vendors on the OpenOffice web site.
