Oxygen Openoffice is bog-standard Open Office with additional templates and clipart etc etc. The actual programs are EXACTLY the same, so there's no reason why vanilla OO shouldn't have the same filters...
There may not be 'any reason why', but I can attest to the fact that Oxygen Office does open up docx files. I have it installed on one of our computers here and it does a remarkably good job of working with Word 2007 files.
