There has been a lot of discussion here about meaningless subject lines;
some people have petitioned for responders to prepend sensible text to the
original subject line. In general I agree with this and try to adhere to it
- except when I forget.

However, I have discovered that Googlemail/Gmail thread *only* on the
subject and *not* on the In-Reply-To header. This means that if one changes
the subject line then one stands a good chance of ruining the threading for
some people who, like me, frequently (or exclusively) use those mail
systems.
