Hi,

I have a problem with DDE links and Windows file sharing. When I open a Calc file containing DDE links to some other Calc files, I can see, using the file server tools, that all my files (the "main" Calc document and every file linked to the main document) are open, which is quite logical, because when I open the main document, Calc asks for a link update. The problem is : when I close the main document after working on it, I can still see the "sub-documents" are still open by me, meaning that if someone else wishes to open any of them, he'll end up with a "read-only" file.

If you wish to reproduce the problem, just create 3 files (main.ods, sub1.ods and sub2.ods), special paste some cells from sub1 and 2 to the main ods file, close all the stuff and place the files on a distant windows file server. Open the distant main.ods, open the "open shared files" (not sure of the name, it's where you can see your windows share and the openened files) console in the "manage computer" window, check that all files are open. Close the main.ods file. Check again the console, sub1 and sub 2 should still be declared as open. If you try to open one of the sub files from another computer, you should have a read-only Calc. The only solution is to kill soffice.bin to release the files.

It has been tested using OOo 2.3.1 and 2.4 rc3 under Windows XP (file server Windows 2003).

I didn't find a bug in the qa website, neither did I find something in the users mailing list.

Can someone help me ?

Thx

Boris
