Sorry about the error in my reply address. Will be cognizant of this in future. I just completed an uninstall, deletion of the OOOo profile and a virus/spyware scan and a registry scan followed by a reboot and fresh install. Nothing changed.

James,

As indicated above I'd prefer responses be sent *only* to
[EMAIL PROTECTED] That way the OOo mailing list benefit from any
assistance, resolutions, etc. However in this case I'll make an
exception :-)

If clearing the profile didn't make a difference, then the other
possibilities would be a corrupt install and/or system. If you don't
mind performing another large download, it might be worthwhile to
download the latest pre-released version of OOo 2.4.0rc4. Bear in mind
that 2.4 may go to 2.4.0rc5 etc., before it's final release, so you'd
have to download the final when it does get released (hopefully in the
next 2 weeks). The file to download is located here:

<ftp://openofficeorg.secsup.org/pub/software/openoffice/contrib/rc/2.4.0rc4/OOo_2.4.0rc4_20080307_Win32Intel_install_en-US.exe>
or here:
<http://openofficeorg.secsup.org/contrib/rc/2.4.0rc4/OOo_2.4.0rc4_20080307_Win32Intel_install_en-US.exe>

Normally it isn't a problem to install over a previous version, but in
this case I'd like you to:

1. Uninstall your 2.3.1 version completely, including deleting the
OpenOffice2.org directory located at:
C:\Documents and Settings\<user>\Application Data\OpenOffice.org2

2. Perform a full virus & spyware scan on your system (Spybot Search &
Destroy: http://www.safer-networking.org/en/index.html) - and defrag
your hard drive. Those are pretty common tasks on a windows system that
you should probably be doing anyway. Probably wouldn't hurt to clean out
all of your tempfiles as well using Ccleaner (http://www.ccleaner.com/)

3. Reboot after #2 and your are pretty sure that the system is clean,
*then* install 2.4.0rc4.

When completed, write back (off list to this email address) and let's
see if that fixed the problem.

Note: if you'd rather not try the pre-release, please still do the above
only download & reinstall a clean version of 2.3.1.

NoOp/Gary
