The document you attached to this message - Death3.odt - was not an Open Document Text file, as you seem to believe and as its extension would suggest, but actually a copy *already* in Microsoft Word format, but which you had renamed to give a different impression. Just rename this file to change its name from Death3.odt to Death3.doc and you will have exactly what you need. In future, you may wish to use OpenOffice to create your file names and extensions for you, and not to confuse yourself by modifying extensions manually!

I may try a NEW DOWNLOAD of Open Office to see if that will clear this problem.

That is somewhat of an overkill. It's a bit like putting a new engine in your car if the real reason that you don't arrive where you need to is because you are reading the map upside down - or even because you have drawn yourself an inaccurate map.
