let me start by eliminating any assumptions. I have never written a

Now, as I read the star/OOo basic documentation, I notice that there
seems to be no explanation of where to write a macro, and how to
execute it, other than to push a button. I have heard elsewhere that
the macro could be a command line argument, allowing for execution
via icon clicking.
If you start to tell me, 'its the same as ms excel', please see

I assume that I have not received any feedback to my simple question
because my windows real time clock said it was about 23 o'clock on
tomorrownight. It seems windows uses a crystal ball as a time base
instead of a crystal.
John,
You stated that you had read the Star/OOo Basic documentation but are
still lost about where to start on Macros. Since you are just beginning
your budding education in Macros, I would suggest that you start by
downloading these two documents:
http://documentation.openoffice.org/manuals/oooauthors2/0312CG-CalcMacros.pdf
also take a look at Chapter 17 in the Getting Started Guide :
http://documentation.openoffice.org/manuals/oooauthors2/0100GS-GettingStarted.pdf
These and more can be found at:
http://documentation.openoffice.org/manuals/oooauthors2/index.html
Hope this helps you get started.
