let me start by eliminating any assumptions. I have never written a spreadsheet macro.

Now, as I read the star/OOo basic documentation, I notice that there seems to be no explanation of where to write a macro, and how to execute it, other than to push a button. I have heard elsewhere that the macro could be a command line argument, allowing for execution via icon clicking.

If you start to tell me, 'its the same as ms excel', please see paragraph one.

I assume that I have not received any feedback to my simple question because my windows real time clock said it was about 23 o'clock on tomorrownight. It seems windows uses a crystal ball as a time base instead of a crystal.

John,

You stated that you had read the Star/OOo Basic documentation but are still lost about where to start on Macros. Since you are just beginning your budding education in Macros, I would suggest that you start by downloading these two documents:

http://documentation.openoffice.org/manuals/oooauthors2/0312CG-CalcMacros.pdf

also take a look at Chapter 17 in the Getting Started Guide : http://documentation.openoffice.org/manuals/oooauthors2/0100GS-GettingStarted.pdf

These and more can be found at: http://documentation.openoffice.org/manuals/oooauthors2/index.html

Hope this helps you get started.

In the getting started guide, there is a section using the macro recorder (chapter 17).

There is another chapter here:

http://documentation.openoffice.org/manuals/oooauthors2/IntroductionToMacros.pdf

Read or skip chapter 17 and the new link, and it should answer the question that you just asked (complete with pictures and arrows).

Also, there was probably no replies, because fewer list members know about macros.
