I evidently didn't say it correctly at all. The issue is that I have
a document, say somedocument.doc (in Word 97/XP format, not docx) on
my Desktop. I click the document and ... OpenOffice.org opens with a
new document, but does not load the document I double clicked. I can
then go to File-Open and open it, but ... shouldn't the default be to
load and open the document automatically when you click on it?
That is the default normally.
That OpenOffice.org opens a new document and not the one you
double-clicked on is an unusual problem that I’ve never encountered in
five years use of OpenOffice.org.
Is it only the one document that this happens with, or every
OpenOffice.org document? It almost seems as though the document is bad
and so OpenOffice.org just open without out, and provides a new document
because that’s what it does when you open OpenOffice Writer without
providing a document name.
Please provide the name and version of your operating system and the
version of OpenOffice.org you are using. That might be of some help.
