I have downloaded Openoffice.org 2.3.1 on my desktop (running Windows XP), and
on my laptop which is running Windows Vista Premium.
I created a file in Openoffice Calc on my desktop. I saved the file to a memory
stick so that I could work on the file on my laptop.
Initially, all worked well when working between my desktop and laptop.
The problem:
I can open and work on the file on my desktop without problems. If I move the
memory stick to my laptop, I am unable to open the file.
I uninstalled Openoffice from my laptop and reinstalled Openoffice.org
2.3.1--all worked well. Until I opened the file on my desktop. I tried again to
open the file on my laptop; no luck.
Any suggestions???

Can you create and then open a Calc file on the laptop? Can you copy it to the memory stick and read it on the desktop?

The only thing that comes to mind, is your file does not have a file extension (.ODS). If so, when you use Save as, ensure automatic file name extension is enabled.
