There's a well known bug in Windows which messes up the registry in such
a way as to produce exactly the symptoms you describe. Microsoft has a
free fix for it at http://support.microsoft.com/kb/290301
By the way, this is not a commercial organisation. We are a bunch of
OpenOffice users who volunteer time to help other OpenOffice users. We
don't like "crap".
