With that 10-minute download, you got functional equivalents of MS
Office Professional (Word, Excel, Powerpoint, and Access) plus
additional capabilities, for free. It didn't immediately start because
after the download you need to install, which you apparently neglected
to do, and then find the applications (if in Windows, through the Start
menu), and choose one of them. If you are unable or unwilling to do
this, I think you were never a "future customer" in the first place, and
many thousands of people all over the world find the product anything
but inept. By the way, it's not "our" product -- we are people who use
the product and help others to do so as well (though we generally
respond poorly to belligerence like yours). As with anything else that
has significant capabilities (including whatever your favorite product
is) there are of course some flaws, typically in unusual circumstances,
but there is also a very active community working to resolve them, and a
lot of free support to find workarounds until that can be done. You'll
be doing any friends you have a great disfavor by discouraging them from
using OpenOffice.org, but of course you have every right to do so.
