I'm also able to see the footer.
the problem is , the file is containing text . I can see that from the small
icon visualized in the left side of the window of the folder.
also, pressing the right botton on the icon of the file , DETAILS ... it
contain nearly 200 words, 19 paragraf...
I can see only the footer!!!!!!!

Since you said you created them long time ago I tried to open them as
OOo1.0text (the very first entry in the filters list) and I got a
blank page with
a footer.
Once opened you can save them again as odt.
